Self monitoring

Since 1991, employees now working for DUCARES are involved in and responsible for the analytical implementation of the self monitoring systems of a number of Dutch meat producing sectors. These systems are dedicated to discourage the use of growth promoters, amongst others steroids, beta-agonists and other banned substances.

Intensive scientific research enables the self monitoring systems to act efficiently, pro-active and legally sound. A scientific body, chaired by Prof. Dr. Jan van der Greef, advises DUCARES in general terms and in case of specific issues. Additionally, the quality of the analytical programs and harmonisation with regard to other control programs in The Netherlands are guaranteed by close cooperation with laboratories carrying out services for the government. In all cases, the interests of the customers of DUCARES are safeguarded and secrecy is fully guaranteed.

The unique systematic approach of the Dutch self monitoring programs and the high scientific level has added to the acceptance of this type of self monitoring systems in Europe and inclusion in EU Guideline 96/23/EU.

Next to the unique knowledge and expertise of analytical chemistry, DUCARES possesses the necessary pharmacological and toxicological knowledge required for these complex fields of work. This makes DUCARES a one-stop-shop for customers in the primary agricultural sectors with knowledge of related legal backgrounds and good relations with governmental bodies and laboratories and product boards.
